Mayday was designed as an all-in-one calendar, task manager, and scheduling assistant for Mac, iOS, and iPad. It aimed to use AI to help users organize, protect, and manage their day more effectively. The core philosophy behind Mayday was to help users make the most of their time, recognizing it as their most valuable asset.

What is Mayday?

Mayday was envisioned as a future of scheduling. It combined a calendar, to-do list, and scheduling assistant into one platform. The idea was that AI would handle the complexities of scheduling, freeing users to focus on their tasks.

How did Mayday work?

Mayday was designed to streamline scheduling through the following features:

• Auto-schedule Everything: Mayday automated the process of finding time to meet with others and schedule tasks, considering user preferences and priorities.
• Always Learning: It combined scheduling preferences and patterns with productivity best practices to schedule events and tasks at ideal times.
• Streamlined Scheduling for Teams: It simplified team scheduling by suggesting optimal times without requiring users to decipher coworkers' schedules.
• AI-Scheduled Tasks: Users could input the duration and time frame for tasks, and Mayday's AI would find the best time to schedule them.
• Automatic Rescheduling: Mayday dynamically adjusted schedules based on changing priorities, with both automatic and one-click rescheduling options.
• Scheduling Links Powered by AI: Integrated scheduling links allowed users to set availability without revealing all free time, balancing their schedule with AI assistance.

Additional Features:

• Chat Assistant (Coming Soon): A calendar-based personal assistant that would keep users informed about schedule items requiring attention.
• FYI Events: A feature to minimize and declutter the timeline by visually reducing the prominence of events that users need to be aware of but not actively involved in.
• Time Windows: The ability to define default availability for different types of events, allowing Mayday to prioritize unique availability.
• Smart Tags: Smart Tags enabled the categorization of events, allowing Mayday to apply powerful automations for different event types.
• Calendar Sync: Synced events ensured that availability was accurately reflected across multiple calendars by creating private, mirrored placeholder events.
• Buffer Time: Buffer time created placeholder events before and after meetings, allowing users to prepare, debrief, or take a break.
• Menu Bar: Instant access to upcoming meetings via a menu bar shortcut.
• Widgets: Widgets for iOS, iPad, and Mac provided a quick view of upcoming events and a monthly calendar overview, with direct access to join meetings.
