Quick Snack is an innovative tool designed to expedite the development of native mobile applications. It leverages the power of AI, specifically a Large Language Model (LLM), to enable developers to build React Native apps through simple conversations with an AI assistant. Built on top of Expo Snack, Quick Snack aims to make mobile app prototyping and development faster and more accessible.

How does Quick Snack work?
Quick Snack essentially allows you to describe the app you want to build to an AI assistant. The assistant then generates the necessary code to create the app's user interface and functionality. This approach can significantly reduce the time and effort required to build initial prototypes and test ideas.

Why was Quick Snack created?
The creator of Quick Snack aimed to address the challenges of building user interfaces, which can be a time-consuming process. Inspired by tools like v0, Replit, Townie, and Claude Artifacts, the goal was to bring the speed and ease of AI-assisted development to the realm of native mobile apps. While web technologies are valuable, native mobile apps often offer superior performance and user engagement.
Known Issues and Limitations:
- Early Alpha Stage: Quick Snack is in a very early stage of development and may have limitations and bugs.
- AI Imperfections: The AI assistant may require follow-up messages to refine the generated code.
- OpenAI Rate Limits: Users may encounter errors due to OpenAI's token-per-minute rate limits.
- Chat Persistence: Chats are not yet saved in the UI, so refreshing the page will erase the conversation.
- Dependency Handling: The assistant may not always handle peer dependencies perfectly, but Expo Snack's "Add dependency" button provides a workaround.
- Image Upload Bug: There is a bug that prevents uploading the same image multiple times.
- Missing Features: The "Fix with AI" button and project downloads are not yet functional.
- Revision History: Quick Snack saves up to 10 revisions of your projects, but there is no interface to view or restore them yet.
What's Next (Planned Features):
The developer had plans to continue improving Quick Snack with features like seamless project downloads and a revision history interface. However, active development has ceased.
